What is Myofascial Therapy?
What to expect:
Assessment and treatment for pain, lymph movement and muscular tightness. Naturally this increases range of motion. A session can include manual therapy, therapeutic massage, fascia tools, assisted stretching, cupping therapy. Most people experience pain relief within one session. It is advised to continue treatment for lasting results as recommended by your therapist.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a sensory organ of connective tissue that surrounds muscle tissue, joints, bones, organs, nerves and blood vessels. It looks like a spider web underneath our skin and inside of our body. On a microscopic level, the web-like strains are mainly comprised of water. When waste builds up in certain areas of the muscle - due to stress, injury, surgery, chemicals, repetitive motions; it inhibits the neuromuscular response. Typically this causes muscle pain/tightness, areas that are sensitive to touch and old inflammation. Without proper stimulation to drain these areas, the muscle blood flow becomes stagnant. During treatment we are creating new stimulation in the nervous system to drain old inflammation, encourage new blood flow and creating a new environment for muscle contraction to thrive in.
